KISA Hosts 'BEST Challenge' Award Ceremony for Blockchain and Fintech Competition

|'Biggest ever' since the first tournament in 2016
|120 teams (334 players) participated... Total prize money of 45.5 million won, 28 points

Consumer Times=Reporter An Woo-jin | Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA, Director Lee Won-Tae) announced that the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lee Jong-ho) and the blockchain and fintech competition 'BEST Challenge' award ceremony were held on the 17th at the Textile Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The competition was held to discover innovative blockchain and fintech technologies and services, and is the largest fintech hackathon ever since starting in 2016 with a total of 28 awards, including 3 awards from the Minister of Science and Technology, and a prize pool of 45.5 million won. In addition, 10 companies participated as collaborators and provided on-site mentoring to advance the participants' ideas.

The competition was divided into 3 categories: △ (track ①) fintech ideaton based on alternative data △ (track ②) blockchain challenge △ (track ③) blockchain/fintech-based ESG service competition, and 50 teams (164 people) from 120 application teams (334 people) that passed the written evaluation participated in the final round.

In the final round of the competition, the final 28 teams received an award as a result of a comprehensive evaluation of completeness, business performance, and technical ability based on the excellent service (idea), differentiation, and usability of the participating teams. The winning team will receive a total prize of 45.5 million won.
