On the 18th, the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP, Director Yoon Ju-hyeon) held the final event of the Design Korea Festival 2020, “DK Forum; Design Beyond Data (Design Beyond Data)” on an online video conferencing system to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This forum was held to promote the importance of infographics using big data, which is a core technology in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and to raise awareness about data and infographics through this.
Therefore, in order to introduce design examples using big data under the theme of “Design Beyond Data (Design Beyond Data)” using a non-face-to-face online system, the winners of the DataBiz infographic contest and invited artists from the special exhibition were invited as speakers to hold a forum.
First, CEO Park Jae-joon of Antock Co., Ltd., which won the Gold Award in the 'Data Biz Infographic Contest', introduced how the winning work 'Korea's Social and Economic Ecosystem Drawn by Data' was structured and visualized.CEO Shin Dong-cheon of Parograph, who won both the Silver Award and the Bronze Award, explained the meaning and role of “data literacy (data literacy)” through various examples.
In addition, Kim Seung-beom, director of VWL, and Kim Young-hee, a professor at Hongik University, presented how attribute data that can reveal current social issues can be artistically expressed under the themes of “Reduced Aircraft Operation Due to Coronavirus - Production Process” and “Data Art: Data as an Artistic Material and Subject,” respectively.
Meanwhile, the DK Forum was held for 3 sessions during the Design Korea Festival 2020 (1 on the state of the design industry that will change due to COVID-19, 2 design policy research competition winners invited forum), and lectures (presentations) that the speakers agreed to be made public can be viewed on the Korea Design Agency's YouTube channel.
