Fintech startup Antock introduced a big data-based impact investment platform for the first time in Korea. Impact investment (impact investment) is a long-term investment in a social venture that can solve social or environmental problems without looking only at profitability, but it is not easy to find a good social venture to invest in. It was necessary to weigh non-quantitative values rather than financial factors such as visible sales or profit.

Antock has solved these investors' difficulties with a big data-based platform. Antock is discovering various types of social ventures based on various domestic and international social venture valuation models, including 30,000 social enterprises certified by the government as well as social venture determination criteria from the Technology Guarantee Fund. In particular, Antock has been evaluated for providing decisive criteria for investment decisions because it indexes the growth potential of each social venture and updates corporate information every month.

Antock's impact investment platform is based on the self-developed “Hubble Database” system. Development began in 2015 to solve the problem of asymmetric information in the financial industry, and version 2.0 was launched last year. There are more than 600,000 domestic corporations that collect and systematize scattered data from privately held companies based on financial information from listed companies. The company sample is comparable to Korean company data.

Park Jae-joon (pictured), CEO of Antock, who met with Seoul Economic Affairs on the 4th, emphasized that “we specialized not only in credit evaluations, but also in non-financial data such as patents, copyrights, government funding, investment promotion, and award information.” Since it collects and analyzes more than 300 types of detailed indicators in 11 areas, startups and privately held companies with insufficient information can also be 'analyzed' with Antock.

Up to now, more than 5,000 social ventures have been discovered, and it is said that specialized indicators are also usefully applied to impact investment reviews. Recently, it was selected as a design-led enterprise innovation capacity building project by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion.

Mr. Park said, “There is a high demand from financial institutions and public institutions that wanted to make impact investments but did not have proper indicators or databases,” and “being able to continuously monitor investment performance through a platform is also an advantage.”

Antock is expanding beyond providing social venture data and evaluation models to an intermediary platform. It is aimed at an impact investment market that will soon grow to 500 billion won. Mr. Park stated, “We will lead the popularization of impact investing by making the Hubble database accessible to anyone.”
